JP Bean is probably best-known for his first book THE SHEFFIELD GANG WARS - which has never been out of print since it was first published in 1981 - and for his authorised biography of the rock singer JOE COCKER. His other books include CRIME IN SHEFFIELD -From Deer Poachers to Gangsters (1987); OVER THE WALL (1994), VERBALS/ THE BOOK OF CRIMINAL QUOTATIONS (1995 & 2003) and BOLD AS A LION - The Life of Bendigo, Champion of England(2002) and, most recently, THE SHEFFIELD CHRONICLES

His writing career began in 1976 with two Thirty Minute Theatre plays on BBC Radio 4. He has appeared many times on television and radio, occasionally writes for magazines and newspapers and regularly gives talks about his books and his experiences while researching and writing them.
